From the mind of mrgoodwraith, and yes there is a theme this week
Here are the rules.

Answer only one quote.

If you answer more than one I will delete your reply. If there are quotes still not answered the next day I will open it up to any and all guesses.

Most weeks there is a theme. If there is not a theme I will tell you. The theme is open to guess even if you have guessed a quote.

The theme has been guessed by ann_totusek, it is movies about Houses

Don't use a search engine (like this can be enforced). If you don't know, you don't know. Maybe next week you will.

You must either be signed into LJ, or say who you are (in case you are a friend of mine who is not on LJ). All anonymous answers will be deleted (hey, I'm obsessive, I want to know who guesses these). Oh, and don't guess as a reply to someone else's guess, on a busy day that makes it hard for me to spot your answer.

1. While I was riding here I noticed a singular lack of vegetation; is there something wrong with the soil? shsilver says home is where the House Of Usher is.
2. Nobody knocks off an old man in my neighborhood and gets away with it. dek9 says home is where The 'burbs is.
3. Think of me as your unseen servant, and believe that during your stay here I shall be with you in spirit.. wyngarde says home is where the Legend Of Hell House is.
4. The union forces me to allow you to go to lunch in spite of the way you've played. Those of you with consciences will not be able to eat. And those whose consciences match your talents, go stuff yourselves -- I hope you choke! bammba_m says home is where The Money Pit is.
5. You think I'd wreck the work of a lifetime because you're in love with a, a Gypsy girl? ann_totusek says home is where the House Of Frankenstein is.
6. I am not some pink-cheeked seminarian who doesn't know the difference between the supernatural and a bad clam! I am a trained psychotherapist! selenesue says home is where The Amityville Horror is.
7. I want it to be a soft green, not as blue-green as a robin's egg, but not as yellow-green as daffodil buds. Now, the only sample I could get is a little too yellow, but don't let whoever does it go to the other extreme and get it too blue. It should just be a sort of grayish-yellow-green. exapno says home is where the Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House.
8. They wait for you to stick your face right up against the glass! And then give you a big, fat 'boo'! blur01 says home is where Thir13en Ghosts is.
9. Solitude's always better with somebody else around, y'know? ann_totusek says home is where the House is.
10. I studied purgatory; I was there once for eleven years. noyoki_sato says home is where The Haunting is.

I recognize several of them, but I'll answer number 4, since you're making me pick. I believe that it's from "The Money Pit", and if I guess correctly from that and the other quotes that I recognize, the theme is movies that have houses as a central "character" or feature- sometimes haunted, sometimes not.

Do I get to try again because Bamm beat me to the punch? If so, number 9 is from "House" (the movie, not the television series, though come to think of it I can see Dr. Greg House saying it sarcastically to Wilson...)

You guys are really doing well with this one -- I'm impressed! Eric, I really think you should let them try the other one I sent you (as a "bonus quiz" in addition to a regular one, if nothing else). ;-)

#5 is either a bad 60's movie or a classic movie of the 30's & 40's.

Funny how that works, huh?

#5 is "House of Frankenstein." I am now benefitting from the habit that one of our local television channesl had of running an old/older movie on Sunday afternoon at 2 pm, then repeating it Saturday at 2 pm. If I liked it, I got to watch it twice. Saw LOTS of old films that way- the Topper movies, "True Grit", lots of lush 50s and 60's productions.
