02:22 am [Link]	The circle I made it to the filk circle fairly late ... I got sidetracked in the con suite swapping stories with conbarbie and a fellow whose name I forget ... since I forget everyone's name (note that I do remember the name of the babe). I had forgotten how many great voices there are in the filk community here. Some amazing stuff, including a couple of original songs that were just breathtaking. I did Roman Wall Blues, the "who needs to remember the words" version and WYSIWYG (again) and then headed back up here to collapse. It's a long drive home tomorrow. I spent much of the evening wandering, so today wasn't as good as it could have been, but it's still been a nice weekend. They are moving to April next year, so I am uncertain as to whether I can make it, but I certainly want to. I've talked with several folks from Fencon, and they want Toyboat to come down next year. It's a bit of a logistical nightmare. We've talked about it a little bit, but I don't know if we can pull it off. We'll see. Now to bed, and tomorrow back to Iowa. How has your weekend been? 11:34 pm [Link]	THAT was fun Maybe the most fun show of the year. The audience was all over it the whole time. There were a couple of folks who talked (as usual right down front) but that was copeable. Everyone played along, there were lots of laughs. A fun, fun, fun show. I can't imagine tomorrow will be this good, but I hope. Marilyn Monroe (Dan Bern) In Crosby Park Trophy Wife The Woman I Want Color Of Your Eyes Hey Dad !!! (complete with the rudest Osmond joke ever, in honor of the twit who disrupted my show last year, it damaged some people) Standards Low Self Esteem ... Hides - With Cedric from the Bedlam Bards on fiddle, and a fellow named Russ (who works with the Bards sometimes, and played with Cedric tonight) on bodhran (he stepped up as Cedric and I were just really taking off, and spurred us on even more). One of the best versions ever as far as I am concerned. I would doff my cap to them if I was wearing one. Thank you so much for making it such a great closer for the show. 07:20 pm [Link]	Conestoga !!! where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain I'm here ... that is a long drive. Just got back from opening ceremonies where they let me play a song ... thanks so much for that. I did WYSIWYG and got some nice laughs. I also talked about Tom Smith, and directed them to the benefit information. I have a show at 8:30, and another at 1 tomorrow. Tonight my set finishes shortly after the Yard Dog Press party starts, so I can actually make it for once (I have this history of being up against the YDP people, but not in a fun way) Anyway, saw a lot of folks already. 08:14 am [Link]	And I'm on the road ... or just about to be Just a little less than 8 hours in front of me. This is the longest drive I do. I set up set lists yesterday ... I'm doing two completely different shows for a total of almost 30 songs. Yes I have my cheat sheets set up. If you're bored ... I will certainly be bored today ... so give me a call. Fri 09:00 PM - Regency Sat 01:00 PM - Regency I'm going to try to talk Cedric from the Bedlam Bards into jamming with me during at least one of the shows. We did a little of that last year and it was a great deal of fun. I'll also be wandering around with my guitar in the evenings. And I'm sure other stuff as well. 10:44 am [Link]	Show updates I am playing in Ames this Tuesday at 8 at the Ames Progressive office I'm playing at Capricon February 15 - 5pm in the internet cafe, as well as running Radio Capricon all weekend. More information on that soon. I am a part of The Marscon Dementia Track - February 29 - March 2. I'm playing friday night, which means you get to hear a couple of songs that I usually don't do at cons ... be afraid, this is going to be a more ... well ... let's just say that I am dipping back into my roots a little bit I will be at Conestoga July 25-27. According to their recent new release I am playing friday night and saturday afternoon. The other musician verified is Bland Lemon Denton, (he's the guy who wrote Buddy Holly is Alive and Well and Living on Ganamede a very silly book that I dearly love). And of course ... I was one of three people who played an instrument (the opposite ratio from Chicago) but things still were quite good and quite a few songs I had not heard before. I played Roman Wall Blues WYSIWYG Marie Provost (since we were doing animal songs, I did skip part of a verse) Hides (with the help of some folks with various percussives) Now I need to get a good nights sleep, and do my last panel, and then get home sometime around 10 tomorrow night ... hooo boy Tags: conestoga (Leave a comment)
