Anyway ... I did a few songs in the Filk Room saturday night ... I did Standards (best so far but still WAY not ready) the Who's 905 (in the wrong key) and a couple more ... and decided that my voice needed a rest ... and went to bed ...
So ... saturday night ...
I got down to the room around 8 to see about setting up ... therein began the first of the problems with some of my gamers ... which turned out to be not much of a problem so much as a bother to a lot of folks ...
We set up ... and I started just after 9 ... I have NO idea what I played specifically ... but some highlights that I remember ...
Many requests from audience members this time ...
The version Alex's Roman Wall Blues which led into Hides was about as good as I have done it ...
I have not felt so loose at a show in some time ... the audience was with me the entire time (at least it seemed to me) ... I got to do my one and only filk song with the help of
However ... one of the weirdest things ... a fellow slept through almost my entire show ... how tired must you be to sleep through my show ???
The last two shows I have done have been the best ever ... I really feel like I might have a chance of being good at this ...
I do have to especially thank Jan (oh she of the magic fingers) for her continued support ...
At the filk circle later there was a fellow there from the Mars Society ... and he was looking for specific sorts of songs ... I kinda sat back since I felt that I was almost intruding and let the filkers go ... and WOW were they good ... Anach's playing continues to amaze me ... he has gotten so good so fast ... Phil's playing is showing such passion lately ... and he has relaxed so much ... both of them need to be doing concerts at cons ...
I did do one song (maybe two ... I can't remember) ... a quite good version of The Woman I Want ... since there had been a couple of love songs before ... and it is about fannish women (one in particular)
Almeda made a comment about how I DID to serious songs ... I teased her a bit ...
"half my CD is serious"
but her point was that I tend to stay to funny songs at cons ... I need to change that ... I get scared of the serious stuff sometimes ... and need to be more relaxed about it
